In 2024, we are celebrating our 20-year anniversary of promoting giving for our local community and offering grants to local charity and community projects.

Over the years, we have set up and manage over 100 charitable funds on behalf of philanthropic individuals and families, businesses, local and national government, and trusts.

Since 2004, we have awarded over 10,000 grants, totalling over £32 million, to local non-profit organisations tackling a range of issues, from health and education to homelessness and the environment.

Every ward in Cambridgeshire has benefitted from our funding.

We extend our gratitude to everyone who has been a part of our work over the years and has helped to drive change for a better quality of life for everyone across Cambridgeshire.

Anniversary celebrations

Our President, Julie Spence OBE QPM CStJ, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, hosted a celebration on 17 June to mark the occasion at The Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge.

The event brought together our supporters, partners, volunteers and some of the remarkable charities and community groups that we support.

Guests had the opportunity to engage with activities run by charities and community groups funded by us. Froglife’s VR headset let guests experience life as a toad, Chinese Community in Peterborough gave a tai chi demonstration, and Cambs Youth Panel recorded a podcast with guests.

The Foundation's President cutting a celebration cake with the CEO, Chair of Trustees and supported charities and community groups.

Our work doesn’t stop here

Despite awarding a record total of over £4 million in the last year, we also saw unprecedented demand for funding that exceeded our capacity to support.

We hope to continue growing our grant-making capacity and we encourage individuals and organisations who are passionate about supporting the local community to join our mission.

While we are immensely proud to celebrate our anniversary and to have distributed more funding than ever before in the last year, the sobering reality is that we are still forced to turn away a staggering number of eligible applicants due to limited resources. The overwhelming demand we’ve witnessed shows just how much work remains to create lasting, positive change in our community.
