Investing in Community Health Fund
Overview
Transforming lives through VCSE partnerships
North West Anglia Foundation Trust (NWAngliaFT) has made a total of £650,000 available to local non-profit organisations whose work aligns with the strategic North Place priorities of:
- Improving healthy lifestyles
- Reducing frailty and social isolation
- Reducing obesity and educating communities about healthy eating

Geographical criteria
The fund will be divided into 13 equal amounts of funding (£50,000), one for each Integrated Neighbourhood. The aim is to build capacity based on the specific needs of each local area, leveraging existing local VCSE providers to strengthen current services and provisions. The 13 Integrated Neighbourhoods are:
Huntingdonshire locality
- A1 Network
- Huntingdon
- St Neots
- St Ives
Peterborough locality
- Peterborough Partnership
- Boroughbury Medical Centre and Paston
- Bretton, Park and Hampton
- Central, Thistlemoor and Thorpe
- Peterborough East
- South Peterborough
Fenland locality
- Fenland
- South Fenland
- Wisbech
Applicant groups are able to apply for projects covering more than one Integrated Neighbourhood (a maximum of £50,000 per Integrated Neighbourhood). However, applicants must make it clear in their budget how costings are broken down per Integrated Neighbourhood. Applicants must also be prepared for the possibility that funding may not be received for every Integrated Neighbourhood within an application.

General fund criteria
- Funding can be over one or two years
- Projects should build capacity in the local area and strengthen current services and provisions
- Projects should address health inequalities and barriers to accessing support
- Projects including partnership working will be prioritised
Evaluation and measuring impact
Successful applications will be asked to submit yearly (or end of project) reports outlining progress towards the three key priority areas listed above.
To evaluate the success of funded projects, the following criteria will be employed:
- Health Outcomes: Reduction in obesity rates, improved physical activity levels, and other measurable indicators of health improvement.
- Social Impact: Decreased reports of social isolation and increased community participation.
- Sustainability: Evidence of continued project benefits after the funding period ends.
- Equity in Access: Assessment of whether health inequalities and barriers to accessing support have been addressed.

- Encourage healthier living practices through targeted community-based initiatives.
- Deliver educational programs focusing on diet, exercise, and wellness.
Reduction of frailty and social isolation:
- Strengthen community networks to support vulnerable populations.
- Provide services that foster social engagement and support for the elderly and those at risk of isolation.
Reduction in obesity and increased education on healthy eating:
- Implement programs that raise awareness about nutrition and offer practical guidance on healthy food choices.
- Engage with local schools, families, and community groups to embed healthy eating habits.
- Encourage healthier living practices through targeted community-based initiatives.
- Deliver educational programs focusing on diet, exercise, and wellness.
Generally:
- Enhanced community capacity to address health disparities
- Better alignment of VCSE activities with Integrated Neighbourhood priorities.
- Sustainable improvements in public health outcomes, especially in underserved areas.
- Strengthened partnerships between VCSEs, Primary Care Networks (PCNs), and other health bodies.
