Cambridge Street Aid
Overview
Cambridge Street Aid offers individual grants to help people with a background of living on the city’s streets. The grants provide practical support to help people get off, and stay off, the streets.
We work with local charities who can refer individuals for a grant of up to £250 or £750. Applications can only be made by referring organisations.

How to apply
All applications for a Cambridge Street Aid grant should be submitted by a referring agency or other organisation on behalf of the homeless person who needs assistance. The organisation can be in the voluntary sector or a local authority which has assessed the person’s individual circumstances and can confirm that they are in need of financial help that cannot be found elsewhere. Grants will be paid to the referring organisation to use the money for the purpose agreed.
There are three main criteria that people must meet in order to be eligible for a Street Aid grant:
- The person must be, or have been, sleeping on the streets or living a street-based lifestyle.
- The grant must be to pay for something that would help the person get off, or stay off, the streets.
- The person must be a resident of, or have links to, Cambridge City.
Grants of up to £250 are available for people in emergency or temporary accommodation. Grants of up to £750 can be requested for people who have an offer of stable accommodation.
The fund is not for crisis support. The aim is to enable change which has a longer term impact on the beneficiary’s life.
Grants must be spent within 2 months of receiving the grant money.
The fund has a limit of one award per person in any six-month period and two awards in total per person, unless there are exceptional circumstances that are explained in the application. Please note that unsuccessful applications will not be counted towards this total.
